Father Ferruccio (Frank)
Bertagnolli SDB Priest, spiritual mentor to
the Australia Trentini and “nonese”
(from the Val di Non, Trentino) A
Father with the Salesian order, Father Bertagnolli celebtrates his 44th
year of priesthood. Father
Bertagnolli emigrated to Australia in 1956 with the Salesian order of Don
Bosco. He studied in Melbourne, Rome and New York. He has been Director and
Principal of various Salesian schools. He has also served as the Provincial
Supervisor of the Salesians in Australia and the Pacific. Also
for many years, Father Bertagnolli has been involved with Boys Town in Sydney
(Engadine). He is also the part of the clergy for the St John Bosco parish of
Engadine in the Diocese of Sydney. Father
Bertagnolli has been a mentor and motivator to the Australian Trentino
community, helping them keep their sense of identity. For

Giulio Ciurletti Sculptor, artist, mosaic
maker, restorer, terrazzo artisan - dubbed the “Michelangelo of Sydney”. Famous
for The NSW “Scott Mitchell” State Library Tasman Map terrazzo vestibule and
the mosaic terrazzo floor of the crypt St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney. Some

Padre Angelo Confalonieri Priest, missionary,
translator (indigenous languages) and the First official Trentino in
Australia
(no portrait available – image left shows Port Essington c.1845). Port
Essington was first settled in 1847. It was the first mission to the north of
Australia. Father Angelo studied the language of the local people, compiling
dictionaries of the various indigenous languages and translating scripture
and prayers. He also mapped the Cobourg Peninsula, including details of the
tribal lands. Click

CBD). The clock is constructed in traditional bronze, contemporary stainless
